West Indies Cricket team squad for cricket world cup 2019 announced on Wednesday by the West Indies Board Officials.
The West Indies named star players Chris Gayle and Andre Russell on their 2019 World Cup team on Wednesday, although Kround Pollard was among those left out.
The first-ever hitter, Gayle, returned to the Windies’ one-day international team in his 2-2 draw against England’s top-ranked earlier this year, scoring two hundred and two fifty in four innings.
Gayle will make a fifth participation in the World Cup for the West Indies and needs only 253 races to overcome the left-hander Brian Lara and become the best hitter on the Caribbean side in the one-day Internationals.
The self-proclaimed “Universe Boss” is the main act of a batting lineup capable of changing the look of any game with an entrepreneurial stroke game.
But he has been in good shape with the bat, and will bring a vital power to the order of the middle for the two-time world champions in England and Wales.
Haynes noted that Sunil Narine and fast emerging bowler Alzarri Joseph, respectively, were not considered due to injuries to the fingers and shoulder.
Russell did not play against England and has been fighting injuries, playing a limited role with the ball in the current Indian Premier League for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Roach will make his third appearance in the World Cup and Gabriel the first, and hope to transfer the recent success in the longest version of the game to ODI format to lead the attack.
Other important names that can be lost include Dwayne Bravo, who has been in the international desert since 2016, and Marlon Samuels.
Young hitters Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer were included, as was Evin Lewis, who missed the England series, at the expense of John Campbell.
Lewis is likely to start batting with Gayle, 39, who only has 252 runs to break Brian Lara’s all-time ODI record in the West Indies and will withdraw from the format after the tournament.
They can amend their squad until May 23, but cricket director Jimmy Adams said there were no plans to do so after the three warm-up series with Bangladesh and Ireland in Dublin.
The West Indies, who won their World Cup trophies in England in 1975 and 1979, started their campaign against Pakistan at Trent Bridge on May 31.
This year’s World Cup will be played as a league of 10 teams before the semifinals and the final
