Sri-Lanka Cricket Team Squad For 2019 Cricket World Cup


Sri-Lanka Cricket Team Squad announced for 2019 icc cricket world cup 2019. The ICC’s deadline to submit the initial World Cup squad was 22nd of April 2019.

Each country is taking time in declaring its squad for the cricket world cup. Sri Lanka is the latest to announce their team for the mega event.

Karunaratne could open the tickets with Thirimanne, and Avishka will be the reserve starter. Kusal Perera was chosen as the guardian of the field, while the other batter Dickwella could not find a place.

The advice was with Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva despite a bad show in recent games.

The Sri Lankan junta announced yesterday that Dimuth Karunaratne, who played the last ODI for Sri Lanka in 2015, will be captain of the national team in the 2019 edition. It was a surprise move by Lankan’s board of directors.

Angelo Matthews, who missed most of the season, is back on the team. The team is full of experience and youth, with most of them playing their first World Cup.

Isuru Udana, who had a good performance in South Africa, and the veteran Thisara Perera filled the place of the whole world.

They also chose Suranga Lakmal and Nuwan Pradeep, and they will go with three real fast bowlers. Sri Lanka also included leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay in place of the mystery hilanter Akila Dananjaya.

Both Jeevan Mendis and Milinda Siriwardana were chosen as participants throughout the year for the mega event.

When it comes to bowling, they have a relatively experienced attack. Lasith Malinga will play his fourth and last World Cup.

The ICC today confirmed matches schedule of team Sri-Lanka in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, which sees the 1996 world champions play their nine league matches in five cities. The tournament consisted of 10-team, is going to be played on a single-league format with the best four heading to the semi-finals matches, will run from 30 May to 14 July across 11 venues of England and Wales.

Batting Sensation Dimuth Karunaratne (c) was chosen to be a Sri Lankan cricket team captain in all three formats of the game after Angelo Mathews lost his role as captain of the country’s limited over teams Squad.

The 31-year-old was renamed as the captain of Sri Lanka cricket team in January, six months after the SUV resigned from the captaincy for the red and white ball formats after a defeat in the local series in Zimbabwe.

“On Sunday, the national selectors decided to name Dimuth Karunaratne (c) as the ODI captain to lead the team in the next England series,” Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement.
