Sarfaraz Khan, who has been displaying impressive performances in domestic cricket, has secured a place in the West Zone squad for the upcoming Deodhar Trophy. Currently, he is actively participating in the Duleep Trophy as a member of the West Zone team. Recognizing his noteworthy contributions, Sarfaraz has now been chosen to represent the same team in the 50-over format of the Deodhar Trophy. Priyank Panchal, who led the West Zone team during the Duleep Trophy, will retain his captaincy for the forthcoming Deodhar Trophy.
Despite raising expectations with his exceptional form in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz Khan was overlooked for the Test squad in the West Indies series. However, his inclusion in the Deodhar Trophy squad presents an opportunity for him to make a strong case for selection in the ODI team through his splendid performances.
Joining Sarfaraz in the West Zone squad are Rahul Tripathi and Shivam Dube. Tripathi, surprisingly excluded from the T20I squad for the West Indies series, might have a chance to make a comeback during the Ireland tour.
On the other hand, Dube, who hasn’t represented Team India since 2020, is eagerly looking forward to a comeback. His inclusion in the West Zone squad is based on his notable performances in the IPL 2023.
Sarfaraz Khan, along with Rahul Tripathi and Shivam Dube, have all been provided opportunities to prove their worth in the Deodhar Trophy. These talented players will be striving to make a significant impact and revive their chances of representing the national team in the near future.
