Teams from 28 Indian states and four union territories compete, with a total of 38 teams divided into eight Elite Groups and one Plate Group. Mumbai has won the tournament a record 41 times, followed by Karnataka with 8 wins and Delhi and Baroda with 7 and 5 wins respectively. Madhya Pradesh is the current champion, winning 2021-22 final against Mumbai.
