ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Trophy

Cricket World Cup Trophy

The Cricket World Cup 2019 Trophy is rewarded to the winning team of the Cricket World Cup league. The current trophy for world cup 2019 is 60 cm high, is build up from silver and gold, and showcases a golden globe held up by three silver columns in the trophy. The columns are given a shape as stumps and bails.

It represents the three basic aspects of cricket: batting, bowling and fielding, while the globe characterizes a cricket ball, with the seam that is named to represent Axial tilt of the world. It is designed with platonic dimensions around it, so that it can be easily recognized from any angle.

The trophy weighs probably 11 kg’s and engraved with the names of the previous winners inscribed on its base. There is still scope for another teams to have their name engraved in the trophy:

The original trophy is kept safe by the International Cricket Council(ICC) in its offices in Dubai but a duplicate one, which is identical in all aspects of design and shape apart from the engraved name of the previous winner, is presented to the winning team of every season and remains in their possession.

The original trophy had the logo of the ICC on it, while the copy presented to the team contains the event logo.

The 1999 trophy showcases the original ICC logo on the inner side of the columns, also the 2003 and 2007 trophies did not had the event logos engaved in the columns, instead they had the logo of the ICC as present on the original trophy, so those 1999 and 2003 trophies were similar and could not be differentiated with the original one.

The base of 1999,2003 carried the similar inscription to the original trophy of the world cup, but the 2007 trophy only had a single engraved logo on the base of the trophy.

From the 2011 season On wards, the idea of having the event logo on the inside of the columns was recommended, but the trophy had no inscription on its base which eventually leads to controversies after the 2011 event was completed and won by team India as to whether the trophy given to the Indian Cricket Team was real or fake.

It was then clarified that the original trophy was handed over to the Indian Cricket Team(ICT). For the 2019 Season the base of the trophy will carry a single inscription on its base and event logo on the inner side of the columns.

The 2011 world cup trophy was different from all the other awarded in the past as well as from the 2015 edition, as it did not carry the inscription on its base and was left simply blank.
