Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone withdraws from world championships

In the women's 400m hurdles, defending world champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has been eliminated.

McLaughlin-Levrone will not be adding to her medal haul in Budapest this summer.

McLaughlin-Levron made the announcement on Instagram on Friday about the injury.

McLaughlin-Levron posted on Instagram that she had pulled out of the World Track and Field Championships due to a minor knee injury.

McLaughlin-Levron said on social media, "I am sorry to announce that I will have to withdraw from this year's World Championships in Budapest."

McLaughlin-Levron is the current world-record holder and defending Olympic champion in the women's 400 meters hurdles.

McLaughlin-Levron's time of 48.74 is the world's fastest time in the women's 400 this year.
