Jamaica reaches knockout round for the first time

Jamaica progressed to the knockout rounds for the first time after a 0-0 draw on Wednesday.

Brazil was eliminated in the group stage for the first time since 1995 at the Women's World Cup.

Jamaica advanced to the knockout rounds, despite being ranked well below both Brazil and France.

Jamaica made progress despite facing financial struggles ahead of the tournament. 

With the draw, the Reggae Girlz advanced to the Round of 16 in their second Women's World Cup.

Jamaica advanced to play the winner of Group H in Adelaide, South Australia the following week.

The Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, posted, "Historic!" On Facebook, "Jamaica! best in the world."
