Harry Maguire stripped of Manchester United captaincy
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been stripped of the captaincy by manager Erik ten Haag.
On Sunday, Erik ten Haag announced the sacking of Manchester United captain Harry Maguire.
Maguire was appointed captain by former United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer six months after he joined United in 2019.
Only 16 league matches were played last season in which midfielder Bruno Fernandes was seen wearing the armband in his absence.
England international Maguire wrote on Twitter: "After a discussion with the manager today he informed me he is changing captain."
Maguire said that "he gave me his reasons and although I am personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I put on the shirt."
Harry Maguire had been captaining Manchester United for the past three and a half years.
Harry Maguire only made eight Premier League starts last season.
