Ada Hegerberg has been ruled out of Norway's crucial match against the Philippines at the Women's World Cup.

Norway forward and 2018 Ballon d'Or winner Ada Hegerberg was ruled out with an injury against the Philippines on Sunday.

Eda has been ruled out of her country's final group stage match against the Philippines with a groin injury.

"We knew there was a possibility that once she got injured she would not be able to play," head coach Herge Riise told a media conference on Saturday.

According to the coach, the medical team is working with Aida to see if it is possible for him to play the match.

Hegerberg left the field just before the end of the match, and Hegerberg was later diagnosed with a groin injury.

Norway's match against Switzerland ended in a 0-0 draw on Tuesday.

Any result other than a win in Sunday's match against the Philippines means Norway has not progressed to the knockout stage.

Currently the Norwegians find themselves on the verge of a group-stage exit without their star player.
