Chicago White Sox closer Liam Hendricks undergoes Tommy John surgery

Chicago White Sox closer Liam Hendricks had surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

The team announced that Hendrix had surgery on Wednesday.

Liam Hendricks returned to baseball this season after defeating C, but he will not be sidelined again.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Keith Meister at TMI Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington, Texas.

With a recovery time of approximately 12 to 14 months, Hendricks is likely to be out until next season.

The White Sox placed Hendricks on the 15-day IL on June 11 after a June 9 appearance with right elbow inflammation.

Liam Hendricks hasn't featured in a game since joining IL.

Liam Hendricks appeared in only five games this season with a 2–0 record and a 5.40 ERA and one save.
