Angels end Shohei Ohtani trade rumors with huge deals for Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo López

Rumors of him being traded to the Los Angeles Angels for Shohei Ohtani were put to rest on Wednesday night.

The Angels acquired minor-league catcher Edgar Cuervo and pitcher Q. Bush from the Chicago White Sox for starter Lucas Giolito and reliever Reynaldo López for No. 2 and 3 prospects.

This acquisition proved once and for all that they would retain Ohtani for the rest of the season.

Angels owner Arte Moreno forced the front office to do so.

According to him, this is his best shot at ending the longest post-season drought in baseball.

Moreno put the franchise up for sale at the end of the 2022 season only to change his mind.

Moreno ordered GM Perry Minasian to give him a starting pitcher and a reliever.

Minasian spars with Giolito and Lopez after starting trade talks.
