American teen becomes youngest player to make World Cup debut

American Casey Phair was seen playing the second half for South Korea in Monday night's match against Colombia.

American player Casey Phair  is only 16 years old.

Casey Phair  became the youngest player to make her World Cup debut.

Phair  broke the previous record held by Nigerian striker Ifeanyi Chiijin.

Ifeni Chiijin made his World Cup debut in 1999 at the age of 16 years and 34 days.

Phair trained with the USWNT last year.

Casey Phair 's parents met in Korea, where her American father worked teaching English.

Prior to being called up to the senior team, Fair scored five goals in two matches for the South Korea under-17 team in Women's Asian Cup qualifying.
