Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane is a star which continues India’s tradition of producing plenty of high-quality batsmen. The talented top-order batsman dominated the first-class scene in India before breaking through into the national side, first with his one-day international debut against England in 2011 followed by his first appearance in the Test side in 2013. A Mumbai boy who had big dreams of representing India in cricket, Rahane has now played more than 130 international games across the three formats and has become a regular fixture in the team. Known for his discipline and dedication, he has performed better on the Test stage than the ODI arena, but is becoming more consistent and has lifted his one-day average into the mid-30s. Rahane’s first Test century came in Wellington against New Zealand in early 2014, but his standout innings to date came against England at Lord’s in July when he put in a gutsy performance on a green top to score 103 and help India to victory. His highest score of 188 came against New Zealand in 2016.
He uses meditation and reading to improve his concentration.
