Harmanpreet Singh, an expert in dragflicking, has been appointed as the captain of the Indian men’s hockey team consisting of 24 members for the upcoming four-nation tournament in Spain. The tournament, scheduled to take place in Terrasa from 25th to 30th July, holds significant importance as it commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Spanish Hockey Federation. Alongside India, the tournament will feature the participation of England and the Netherlands. This event is crucial for the Indian team as it serves as a preparation platform ahead of the Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai 2023 and the Hangzhou Asian Games in September-October 2023.
Addressing the team selection, Head Coach Craig Fulton expressed, “We have meticulously curated a well-rounded squad that combines seasoned expertise with youthful enthusiasm. Our objective is to foster a harmonious team capable of competing at the highest echelons.”
“The forthcoming four-nation tournament in Spain presents us with an ideal platform to refine our strategies and gauge our abilities against top-tier opponents. It will enable us to pinpoint areas that require enhancement, thereby playing a crucial role in our preparations for the Asian Champions Trophy and the Asian Games. We hold firm belief that this exposure will elevate our performance levels and equip us to tackle the forthcoming challenges,” he further stated.
