India Vs South Africa Match Prediction and Preview

Team India Squad Preview

India World Cup Squad : Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Vijay Shankar, MS Dhoni (wk), Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The first match of an important tournament can be a bit tricky. India lost its first warm-up match against New Zealand but was then able to win quite comfortably against Bangladesh. In both those matches, India’s famed top-order was not able to score many runs. Shikhar Dhawan has a phenomenal record of making runs in ICC events. He also likes to bat against South Africa. The pitch at Southampton should have some bounce in it, something that all the Indian batsmen seem to enjoy. The bowling will be led by Jasprit Bumrah. Ranked at the best ODI bowler in the world, Bumrah is going to be the key to India’s World Cup 2019 dreams. This has been a tournament where picking wickets has been a premium.

Team South Africa Squad Preview

South Africa World Cup Squad: Faf du Plessis (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, Hashim Amla, David Miller, JP Duminy, Dwaine Pretorius, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Imran Tahir, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi A heavy loss to England and being comprehensively outplayed by Bangladesh was not how the South Africans would have wanted their World Cup 2019 campaign to start. Dale Steyn was already out injured and it looks like Lunge Ngidi has joined the list as well with Hashim Amla’s availability in question. We think that Hashim Amla should be able to come back for the match against India and Dale Steyn may be fit as well. That will probably mean one out of Aiden Markram or David Miller missing out in the next game. One of the biggest strengths for South Africa was supposed to be its bowling attack but they have now given up 300 runs in both their matches. We actually think that England and Bangladesh left some runs on the ground. This then leaves Quinton de Kock, Amla, Faf du Plessis, and the batting to follow to pick up the slack. Du Plessis and de Kock are going to be the key for South Africa. The batting lineup is well-stocked and strong enough to win matches.

The team winning the toss is going to want to bat second. Teams have preferred to chase in the World Cup so far and the rain could also help the side that is chasing. India would be favourites alongside Australia and England. New Zealand are the dark horses. The rest are all underdogs.” Kohli, in his first 50-over World Cup as captain, is the key to India’s batting, with his 10,843 runs in 227 ODI matches at an average of 59.57. The 30-year-old’s importance to India is not lost on South African pace bowler Kagiso Rabada, who tried some mind games ahead of their potentially feisty clash when he called the skipper “very immature”.

India To Win the Match, 1.47
  • India has a very well-balanced side with the two top-ranked batsmen and the top-ranked bowler in the world at their disposal
  • South Africa has injury concerns to some leading players and has lost both its matches in the ICC World Cup 2019 so far
  • India has beaten South Africa in six out of the seven matches so far
