The 2023 MLB All-Star Game takes place Tuesday at T-Mobile Stadium in Seattle with the FOX broadcast starting at 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the National League vs. American League odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.
The National League will face the American League for the 93rd installment of the MLB All-Star Game Tuesday. The AL enters on a 9-game winning streak vs. the NL and has the edge in the all-time series with a 47-43-2 record. The AL narrowly defeated the NL 3-2 last year at Dodger Stadium.
This year, the Texas Rangers boast the most AL All-Stars (6) and the Atlanta Braves have the most in the NL (7).

MLB All-Star Game picks and predictions
Prediction
AL 4, NL 3
Moneyline
It’s tough to predict which team will put more effort into winning the All-Star Game, but I’ll side with the AMERICAN LEAGUE (-110) in Tuesday’s matchup. As mentioned, the AL has won 9 straight meetings, 2 shy of tying the 11-game streak set by the NL between 1972-’82. The AL had a 13-game unbeaten streak between 1997-2009, which included a tie in 2002.
Run line/Against the spread
PASS.
While the AL should win outright, backing the run line with -190 juice isn’t advised.
Over/Under
UNDER 7.5 (-120) is the play in this year’s star-studded clash with pitchers typically having the edge in All-Star Games. There have been fewer than 8 runs scored in 5 of the last 6 contests, and T-Mobile Stadium isn’t an extremely hitter-friendly venue.
Why you should back the National League
The NL hasn’t found the win column in this game recently but most of the games have been extremely competitive. Two of the past three have been one-run wins for the AL and two games during the current streak have gone into extra innings. Both teams will be missing some key pieces for rest or injury reasons, but the AL has been hit particularly hard in that department.
Aaron Judge (toe), Mike Trout (hand) and Yordan Alvarez (oblique) are among the big AL bats missing. Meanwhile, every selected starting NL position player is expected to be available. Six of the top eight MLB leaders in OPS are on the NL roster, so even a loaded AL staff could struggle against this deep and balanced NL lineup.
How to make 2023 MLB All-Star Game picks
Severance has taken a close look at the AL vs. NL matchup from all angles and is leaning Under on the run total. He’s also locked in a strong money-line pick and MVP betting recommendations.
